Treatment of Unguis Incarnatus using the VHO-Osthold-Brace®perfect– – an alternative to the Emmert Plastic?
The treatment of ingrown toenails is a common and widespread problem for surgical clinics and GP’s. Unfortunately this topic is often considered trivial by doctors and health insurance companies, although it generally causes great pain and results in the patient requiring medical leave, which in turn has an impact on the national economy.
In Dr Harrer’s dissertation the VHO-Osthold-Brace®perfect, – a conservative orthonyxie treatment for unguis incarnatus, in which a metal brace is applied on to the nail – is compared to the Emmert surgical procedure on two groups of patients.
