VHO – What is it?
The VHO Osthold brace has quietly and consistently triumphed in the healing of Unguis Incarnatus, ie ingrowing toenails, for the last 20 years.
VHO – Virtuose Human Orthonyxie: To overcome the curvature of the big toenail into the inflamed tissue by using an even stronger resistance, ie the "VHO-Osthold-Brace® perfect", to lift the nail, pad it out and create space for the healing process to begin. Skilful – humane (painless) and corrective!
The term "Orthonyxie" was created by the Scottish dental technician Ross Fraser from Dundee for describing the correction of ingrown nails by means of steel braces, which he produced using an impression and a cast model. He used the Greek words "orthos" (=straight) and "onyx" (=nail) - that was in 1964.
The question “Treatment of unguis incarnatus with the "VHO-Osthold-Brace® perfect" – an alternative to Emmert plastic?” has been answered positively by scientific studies and thesis on this subject.
The study was carried out by Jörg Harrer together with Prov. Doz. Dr Ignaz Schneider (Erlangen / Nuremberg University) in collaboration with the Institute for Orthonyxie (Elvira Osthold).
